Mike Hengeveld , Templeton Secondary School ,
in recognition of for his teaching excellence in physics, particularly at the junior level. He initiated and still organizers the Junior Physics and Engineering Competition (JPEC), a physics contest for students in grades 8-10. By acting on a need he saw for a physics outreach event that engaged younger high school students, he has encouraged many young people to continue studying physics in high school on to the university level..

Brian Dentry , Kildonan-East Collegiate ,
in recognition of for his long-standing accomplishment of propelling students to excellence. In addition to regularly producing winners of high school CAP prize exams, having a very high percentage of his students enter graduate work in physics, and giving a large number of teaching workshops in physics over the years, Brian has had a special concern in encouraging members of under-represented groups to enter physics. His new approach to the curriculum in high school math and physics showed a reduction in the dropout and failure rate from 62% to 10%.
"For this amazing opportunity, thank you. Over the years I have been able to experience the excitement of students discovering and experiencing physics. Initially on a different path in my career, prominent physics professors took time for their students and exposed them to the wonders of physics. Later, this led to my exposure to CAP, Chalk River, TRIUMF, and others. To now receive this award sponsored in part by these same organisations, brings many more opportunities to my students and brings my teaching a full circle" view the press release

Olga Michalopoulos , Georgetown District High School ,
in recognition of for her creative approaches in engaging all students in the study of science in general and physics in particular. Her dynamism motivates all students to become involved in science well beyond the classroom, be it in solar car competitions, Grade 11 and Grade 12 physics contests, or a pilot project with the Canadian Space Agency that
allowed students to engage via video conference with the Canadian Space Agency to learn about the
physics and engineering of space flight. Olga is always at the creative edge of pedagogy, and is a genuine motivator of students in physics.
"I am humbled and deeply honoured to receive this national award from CAP for teaching high school physics. I have always been passionate about physics. I have also been fortunate and privileged to work with many outstanding colleagues who have continued to support me and help me grow as an educator. I thank them all. Most importantly, I want to thank my students for continuing to inspire me over the years and allowing me to touch the future" view the press release
