2015 High School / CEGEP Teaching Award Winners
The CAP and its award partners - Perimeter Institute, TRIUMF, Nelson Education, and the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC - are pleased to announce the recipients of the 2015 CAP High School/CEGEP Teaching Award Winners. Recipients will be presented with their awards at their school, the CAP Congress, or some other appropriate event as coordinated with the recipient and school.

Mr. James Strachan , Kelowna Secondary School ,
in recognition of for his ability to motivate students to levels of high academic achievement using innovative and instructional strategies. With his work in Science Teachers LSA, his encouragement of students in the "Art of Physics" contest, and his mentoring of students in the Young Innovator Scholarship competition, his educational leadership in and out of the classroom is exemplary.

Mr. Patrick Kossmann , Greenall High School ,
in recognition of for his creative work in encouraging students to learn physics. A Physics teacher and a drama coach, his classes are engaging and enjoyable, while maintaining top standards of academic excellence.

Mr. James Ball , J.F. Ross CVI ,
in recognition of his mastery at recognizing how individual students learn best. From having students use hand-held whiteboards to draft their ideas and solutions to problems, to using YouTube videos to show physics in the real world, to his leadership in the OAPT, to his mentoring of students in the Sir Isaac Newton OAPT prize exams, to his work in charitable activities, he has shown himself to be an exceptional physics teacher both in and out of the classroom.

Mr. Raynald Richer , Cégep de Chicoutimi ,
in recognition of for his excellent working at popularizing physics for students. A founder of the Science demonstration Centre in Saguenay Lac- St-Jean, M. Richer has led the fight against students dropping out of science at a regional level. His innovative use of demonstrations communicating physical phenomena of sound, air, light, electricity, and more, have pushed many students to pursue science at higher levels of education.
