The Canadian Association of Physicists (CAP) and TRIUMF are pleased to announce that the 2022 CAP-TRIUMF Vogt Medal for Contributions to Subatomic Physics is awarded to Asimina Arvanitaki, Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics, in recognition of her innovative contributions to a number of areas of fundamental physics and in particular for identifying experiments that could test the underlying physics. announcement

Asimina Arvanitaki is a highly innovative theoretician, a pioneer in “tabletop physics,” who has proposed small-scale experiments that complement work at larger-scale particle physics facilities.

Arvanitaki’s theoretical work has contributed to research on supersymmetry, string theory, dark matter, and black holes. Her strategic, creative approach has positioned her at the forefront of the search for new forces and particles that would complete and extend the Standard Model. nominator citation

ABOUT the Medal

First introduced in 2011, the Vogt Medal recognizes and encourages significant experimental or theoretical contributions to subatomic physics.

A series of virtual plenary medal talks will be organized to honour the 2022 medal recipients. The talk schedule will be posted on the CAP's website and notification of each talk will be issued once arranged. The medal will be forwarded to Asimina Arvanitaki with the congratulations of the community. medal description
