The Canadian Association of Physicists (CAP) is pleased to announce that the 2011 CAP Award for Excellence in Teaching High School/CEGEP Physics (Ontario) is awarded to Glenn Wagner, Centre Wellington DHS (Centre Wellington, ON), in recognition of his skill at using differentiated teaching methods to significantly improve student performance. Glenn has established himself as a teacher that draws students into physics. A master at differentiated instruction, Glenn incorporates a broad range of teaching strategies such as peer instruction, interdependent group work, concept mapping, and problem-based learning methods in his classroom. With a track record of turning poor student performance into strong student accomplishment, Glenn has also the author of several research papers on Physics teaching. Well done, Glenn!. announcement

Glenn Wagner, a teacher at Centre Wellington District High School in Fergus has received the CAP Award for Teaching High School Physics, a prestigious provincial award. Glenn has previously been recognized for excellence in teaching receiving the AMGEN award for science teaching in the 2008-2009 school year. He continues to bring innovative and effective new teaching ideas to his physics classroom including the design of a knowledge building community that has his students tackle cutting edge conceptual questions in modern physics ranging from the evolution of the universe, black holes and space-time, and quantum foundations. nominator citation
