The Canadian Association of Physicists (CAP) and TRIUMF are pleased to announce that the 2025 CAP-TRIUMF Vogt Medal for Contributions to Subatomic Physics is awarded to Mark Boulay, Carleton University, in recognition of important contributions to the direct search for dark matter using liquid argon detectors. Highlights include the development of pulse shape discrimination to reduce backgrounds in dark matter searches and leadership on the DEAP and Darkside-20k experimental programs. announcement

Mark Boulay is an international leader in the field of astroparticle physics to which he made numerous contributions. In particular, the technique he developed enables the search for dark matter in liquid argon, paving the way for a new generation of very sensitive dark matter detectors. nominator citation
