The Canadian Association of Physicists (CAP) is pleased to announce that the 2014 CAP Award for Excellence in Teaching High School/CEGEP Physics (Prairies and Northwest Territories) is awarded to Dion Skitsko, Mother Margaret Mary High School, in recognition of for his innovative design of physics experiments and demonstrations, and his leading edge use of technology in the classroom. announcement
Dion Skitsko brings an excitement to every class he works with. He is always looking for ways to make his students more involved in their own learning and is a leading teaching in incorporating digital technology in their activities. He uses hands-on activities, demonstrations, videos, and student-generated examples to bring physics to life. Not only does he work very hard to produce an excellent learning environment for his students, but he willingly works with other teachers in his division and shares his resources with teachers across Alberta. He is also very involved in the Physics provincial assessment program in Alberta. nominator citation
